Instagram is shutting down threads, Message threads that is.
Instagram the controversial photo and video sharing social networking service founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. In April 2012, that Facebook Inc (now Meta). acquired for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock says
There will be no independent Instagram messaging courses until the end of 2021. Starting November 23, the app will display a notification asking users to return to Instagram.
Threads was an idea similar to Facebook Messenger – it allowed users to send and receive Instagram DM messages in a custom messaging interface outside of the main app.
Some weird features including the automatic status the app can set for you based on what your phone is doing. The company said in a statement at a press conference that all of these tools will be available on Instagram until Thread is deactivated. Meta also integrates several of its messaging platforms.
Both Messenger and Instagram currently support cross-platform messaging, and the company has announced that it will also integrate WhatsApp. Threads – an app only for Instagram – may make less sense as the lines between Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp are blurred.
But the point is, a lot of people don’t use wire as a starting point. The app had more than 200,000 users last year, a small fraction of the more than 1 billion Instagram users. Meta tried several things last year – redesigned the app and expanded its usage scenarios from just friends to almost all users – but they didn’t seem enough to save it.
“We are bringing the fun and unique features of threads to the main Instagram app and we will continue to develop ways that people can better interact with our close friends on Instagram,” Meta told the press. We hope this is for the people. It’s easier to get all of these features and capabilities in the main app.
