Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better because I just hit the 18k subscriber milestone
So it’s likely that if you are already here you probably already know me, however given that this site is aimed at the reading community of techies in Ethiopia and a whole other platform all together let me take the time to introduce myself.
My name is Jason Peters and I have lived in the wonderful land they call Ethiopia for close to 26 years, growing up I always had a fondness for any gadget or gizmo and kept myself busy with anything ICT related. I opened my first ICT company at age 14 with my partner at the time Dawit Habtamu (now residing in the United States) we both loved computers and all the amazing things you could do with them; naturally we gravitated towards open source and started the first open source community in Addis Ababa called Open Source Ethiopia.

This was in an attempt to help young Ethiopians break free from imperialist software like that of Microsoft, that at the time was offering an Amharic version of windows for 500USD per computer whilst my favorite Linux distro at the time RedHat had Amharic for free if you could download the 600mb iso file on ethio telecoms 56k dialup internet.
But that’s enough of a trip down memory lane today I follow a long time dream of mine, I make YouTube tech related videos in Amharic in an attempt to get the youth of Ethiopia interested in what imagination and knowledge of tech can bring you. If you haven’t already seen my channel do check it out
This journey will have taken me 2 years this coming December, and it’s been amazing so many people have reached out to me and said I have helped them in some shape or form and that is what I wanted all along, I just passed the 18,000 subscribers mark last week but as any Ethiopian tech YouTuber will tell you the views for tech content is seriously low which is why what started out as one YouTube channel has now expanded to become
