A Woolworths supermarket customer has sparked a heated social media debate after posting a controversial image of a Woolies employee at their local store.
Sharing on Facebook, the Sydney shopper spoke of their disapproval after noticing that the worker had placed meat packs on the floor of the chilled foods aisle while stacking shelves.

A photo posted by the customer shows the Woolworths team member placing labels on trays of pork which had been spread out on the floor.
In their post, the shopper said it wasn’t the first time they’d noticed employees at the southern Sydney Woolworths store doing the same act.
“Photo taken at Woolworths today showing staff putting the meat products on the floor,” they wrote.
“It happens often and I’ve sent two complaints via feedback form on Woolworths’ website last year, but the situation is getting worse.
“Could you please do something about it as the store manager didn’t seem to be able to get the staff to do the right thing.”
The customer also posted a similar image from September last year, showing a female employee placing meat packs on the floor.
But while some Facebook users agreed with the shopper’s complaint, many defended the workers’ actions.
“Don’t lick or eat the PACKAGING and you’ll be fine,” wrote one.
Another responded: “Take the plastic off first before cooking, you should be fine.”
Said a third: “Who cares, it’s packaged.”
Wrote one more: “You do realise that the meat is covered in plastic right? No contamination is going to happen, however some weirdo stalking their staff deserves to be banned from every store.”
Added another: “This is the most pettiest complaint yet.”
Others, however, agreed that the workers should find another way to store the meat.
“So they don’t have trolleys to put meat on?” asked one.
Another added: “They could stack meat in a trolley instead of the floor – and why pack the fridge with so much meat in the first place?”
Responding to the customer’s complaint, a Woolworths spokesperson said the supermarket had passed on the complaint to the store in question for their “awareness and review”.
